What is Remicade?
Remicade®(infliximab) is the only FDA approved
Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis treatment to
block TNF-alpha, which is believed to play an important
role in the inflammatory process. Remicade is a biologic
therapy that works with your immune system to put the
disease into remission and promote intestinal healing.
How is Remicade given?
Remicade is administered by intravenous infusion.
The recommended dose of Remicade is 5mg/kg. and
is calculated by your weight converted to kilograms.
Your particular dosage is followed with similar doses
At 2 and 6 weeks after the first infusion, then every 8
Weeks thereafter.
Remicade must be administered over a period of not less
Than 2 hours. Your vital signs will be monitored every
Half hour by a nurse with advanced cardiac life support
Certification and who is also trained in Remicade IV
Infusions. Allow at lease 3 hours for each infusion.
During your Infusion:
You may watch TV, Movies, read a book, even have
Something to eat or drink in a pleasant sunny atmosphere.
