Laboratory Services


Our in-house laboratory offers many convenient patient services such as:

  • Blood counts

  • Blood chemistries

  • Coagulation studies

  • Stool studies

  • Thyroid testing

  • Immunoassay tests to aid in diagnosis of Celiac Disease

  • Hydrogen breath testing

  • Routine phlebotomy

The laboratory is managed by a trained and certified Medical Technologist and utilizes state of the art equipment. Test results are continuously monitored for reliability, precision, and accuracy. Our laboratory participates in several independent proficiency testing programs and is licensed under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA).


Our in-house service provides you with the convenience of having your testing done onsite as part of your visit with the doctor rather than having to travel to another location.


Services Offered by Gastroenterology Associates, LTD
"On Site" In House Laboratory

  • Complete Blood Counts including an automated 3 part differential.

  • Celiac Panel that consists of Antitissue Transglutaminas Jg A, Jg G, and Anti-Gliadin Jg C and Jg A. These tests are performed using Enzyme Immunoassay Kits to determine autoantibodies present in human serum. The presence of these autoantibodies aid in the diagnosis of Celiac Disease (aka Celiac Sprue).

  • Clinical Chemistry including 22 individual chemistry tests and various panels including Comprehensive Metabolic Panel, Electrolyte Panel, Hepatic Function Panel, and a Lipid Panel; designed to evaluate for liver and kidney problems, elevated cholesterol, etc.

  • Stool Studies including:
       - Immunoassay Test to detect Clostridium Difficile Toxin A & B
       - Immunachromatographic Assay to detect Cryptosporidium Parvum and Giardia Lamblia
       - Lactafeasia Test for the detection of Fecal Leukocytes
       - IEOB and Hemoccult Test for the Determination of Fecal Occult Blood in the Stool

  • Coagulian Studies including Prothrombin Time and Partial Thromboplastin Time Clot Retraction Test to determine if blood clots appropriately.

  • Estimated Sedimentation Rate (ESR); a nonspecific marker of inflammatory activity.

  • Thyroid Testing using an Enzyme-linked Fluorescent Immunoassay:
       - Total T3
       - Free T4
       - TSH

  • Hydrogen Breath Tests for the determination of Lactose Intolerance, Fructose Malabsorption, and Bacterial Overgrowth.

  • Phlebotomy Sevices for patients who bring in prescriptions from other physicians.
